Recent Hotel Shattuck Plaza Review: "We came to Berkeley for the Robert Plant concert at the Greek Theater and opted for the Hotel Shattuck Plaza due to its convenient location and great reviews. We were not disappointed. The remodeled facility is lovely. The beds were excellent, our room was quiet, staff was courteous and respectful of our space, restaurant "Five" was great. Bathroom  amenities met our needs; toiletries were of high quality. To enjoy your stay to the max at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza, there are some aspects of the situation that it's best to be prepared for: *There is no onsite parking and, for the dates we were there, no valet. There is room to unload 2 to 3 cars at a time at the curb. When we arrived, there was no one available to help us unload, so we were on our own. One of us took care of the luggage while the other parked the car at the public parking garage across the street. We learned later that, at times, there is staff available to help with loading and unloading, so ask if you don't see anyone. *Morning coffee: our room had no "in room" coffee maker, and coffee service in the lobby was not clearly communicated. Hotel Shattuck Plaza is "green", so there are no "to go" cups. Just be prepared to go downstairs to obtain coffee to carry up to your room, or you can pay for room service to deliver. *No refrigerators: we knew this going in, and we were fine without one. But, if you really need one, be aware. *This is an "historical" hotel, so the regular rooms, closets, & chests of drawers are smaller than more contemporary spaces. But, this is Berkeley, so we should all be doing more with less anyway, rightr (I brought too much stuff, not the hotel's fault!) All in all, we loved the location, and, once we learned how things worked at the hotel, really enjoyed our stay. The feel is a laid-back elegance and hospitality that suited us well. We loved the Berkeley culture as well. We definitely hope to return some day and would be very happy staying at Hotel Shattuck Plaza again."
